excellent teaching in American schools. This mandate is carried
out chiefly by the funding and broad distribution of educational

AzTEA - Arizona Technology in Education Alliance
Eight Educational Outreach: ASSET supports AzTEA at the top level of non-profit sponsors with in-kind services. ASSET is pleased to promote AzTEA events, offer studio space for special events, and participate as a presenter at local chapter workshops. ASSET also promotes AzTEA membership and local involvement with ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) initiatives. AzTEA will support Eight Educational Outreach through its contributions to special innovative technology projects such as the work with FRONTLINE: Digital Nation. |

Presentations
Since 1991, CCS Presentation Systems has served customers
in the corporate, government and educational sectors. CCS
provides full service integration, installation and maintenance
of audio and video equipment including interactive whiteboards,
projectors, LCD & plasma displays, audio systems, control
systems and more. The company has expanded from a two-person
operation to one of the largest A/V integrators in the U.S.,
with more than 300 employees, sales offices in 11 states and
annual sales in excess of $100 million.
CCS Presentation Systems has always supported ASSET’s
efforts to provide technology integration training to Arizona
educators. During MEC 2008, ASSET was able to give one eInstruction
32-pad IR Classroom Performance System to one lucky educator
attending the “ASSET/Eight Red Carpet Premiere Party”
thanks to CCS Presentation Systems. |

Microsoft
Education works with local, national, and international
education communities to create technology, tools, programs,
and solutions that help address education challenges, while
improving teaching and learning opportunities.
Microsoft has always been a collaborative partner with ASSET
to provide technology integration training to Arizona educators.
Recently, the company provided a complete Microsoft Office
Suite to the 2008 Arizona Outstanding In Home Care Provider
award recipients. Three women were nominated based on their
outstanding service to the children they care for in their
homes. The Microsoft Office Suite donation was part of a larger
technology package provided through KCET’s A Place of
Our Own/Los Ninos en Su Casa. Each recipient is responsible
for providing workshops based on the broadcast and online
content created by KCET. |

Maricopa
Partnership for Arts and Culture is a regional nonprofit
organization that promotes a vibrant creative community as
a critical partner in the economic vitality of Metro Phoenix.
MPAC funds research and initiatives to raise awareness and
advance knowledge of the vital role arts and culture plays
in Metro Phoenix’s economic prosperity, distinctiveness and
vibrancy. Past and current efforts include subject matter
such as the economic impact of the creative sector; the competitiveness
of the region’s arts and culture sector against other cities;
audience trends and behaviors; and perceptions both in-area
and nationally of quality of life offerings in the Metro Phoenix
area. |

The Talaris
Institute promotes successful parenting through research-based
information about raising socially and emotionally healthy
children, birth to five. ASSET/Eight partners with the Talaris
Institute to distribute Parenting
Counts resources for parents and tools to enhance the
professional development of those who work with children and
families, such as parent educators, nurses, early childhood
teachers, clinicians, and child care professionals. |

ASSET-Eight
is proud to have been awarded a Nina
Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust grant in support of the
Ready To Learn program. This grant helps fund Ready To Learn
workshops for parents and other educators of children birth
to five in Maricopa County. Ready To Learn is public broadcastingÍs
ongoing contribution to our nationÍs most important educational
goal Æ that all children begin school ready to learn.

ASSET has
partnered with the Qwest Foundation for several years to build
a strong portfolio of early childhood educator services for
Arizona educators. These services include face to face and
online workshops for educators and in-home childcare providers
with KCETÍs A Place of Our Own/ Los Niños
en Su Casa, as well as reduced registration costs for
PBS TeacherLine online courses such as ñRaising Readers: Preparing
Preschoolers for Success.î
Qwest Foundation funds have also supported stipend costs
for Early Childhood Classroom Innovators. These classroom
and agency leaders will support their colleagues in participating
in the professional development offered by ASSET-Eight as
well as integrate PBS on-air and online standards-based resources
for teachers, parents, and children into their daily classroom
activities.

Science Matters is a major public awareness and engagement campaign by the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) designed to rekindle a national sense of urgency and action among schools and families about the importance of science education and science literacy. Science Matters brings content, news and information that supports quality science education to parents and teachers nationwide-information that focuses on quality learning experiences in the sciences for students starting at an early age, and why science education is critical to science literacy and our future workforce. Science Matters builds on the success of the Building a Presence for Science program, first launched in 1997 as an e-networking initiative to assist teachers of science with professional development opportunities. called "Hip Hop Healthy Heart Program."
This K-6th grade cardiovascular disease prevention program
