The Arizona Bureau of Land Management is responsible for managing the five most recently created national monuments.

The National Park Service provides extensive information on the other 13 national monuments.

Educational Activities

Plan a trip to all of Arizona's national monuments starting from your house. How far would you travel and how much time would you need? Determine a travel budget including gas, food and lodging.

Using a spreadsheet and the resource web sites identify the reasons each monument was created. Categories can include historical landmarks, ancient cultures and scientific interest.
